Pinterest Boards : Drinks

February 28, 2012

Let’s get our drink on for today’s post! That’s right, I’m talking about my Drinks Pinterest board! Pretty much any drink I run across makes it to this amazing little board! And what a collection I’ve grown over a little time! Not only do I have some amazing alcoholic drinks just sitting there waiting for me to try but I also have some other amazing drinks pinned! So, of course, I wanted to share some of my favorite pins! Enjoy and make sure you let me know if you give them a try!

Puffed Pancakes!

February 27, 2012

I ran into this recipe yesterday! Usually I just pin everything on to Pinterest and then eventually get around to it. Well, last night it was one of those nights that you just keep opening the pantry and refrigerator and can’t seem to figure out what you want for dinner. So, I decided to give this recipe a try! It’s SUPER easy and quick! I added a little more cinnamon than originally called for but loved it! Here’s the original recipe from The Rockstar Diaries.

2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup flour
dash of salt
dash of cinnamon
1 tablespoon butter

preheat oven to 425 degrees.
whisk together the eggs, milk, flour, salt and cinnamon in a bowl.
while the oven is preheating, melt the butter in a pie pan or 9 inch square pan.
pour the batter into the hot melted buttered pan.
bake 10-12 minutes (or until the pancake is firm and has puffed around the edges).

$3 Ulta Haul!

February 25, 2012

Yea, that’s right! I made out pretty well this past week at Ulta. I haven’t shopped there in awhile. The company as a whole I really enjoy and I think they sell great products (similar to Sephora) yet I love that they also sell an amazing selection of drug store brands as well! I rarely come home without having exactly what I’m looking for plus some! Unfortunately, since my store opened the quality of customer service has gone down – a lot. Their new manager is horrible. To say the least. She’s actually the worst associate there (in my opinion) on the sales floor. She made me so upset the last time I shopped at that location I actually ended up putting back over $300 worth of product … and went home and ordered it on! I’m a retail manager… I know what I expect in my store and I expect the same!

Anyways, now that I’ve ranted about my horrible Ulta store! I did rack up some points through their rewards program before the whole horrible visit happened! I ended up getting all of these products for $3. I did the math real quick and figured it would have been around $70! These are all products I use or have wanted to use so I’m pretty excited.

So what did I get? I got some foam rollers! I’ve been meaning to get them for a while and I figured why not? They were $3 for both packs! I think I need to get at least another pack or two though. I have extremely thick hair so I can barely fit it all into just these rollers. On the plus side, my hair comes out PERFECT after using these and leaving them in over night! I couldn’t be happier! I think it may just beat all of the other non-heat curls. As for my free things : Oscar Blandi Pronto Invisible Volumizing Dry Shampoo Spray (I’ve used before and liked yet started using a less expensive dry shampoo just because I couldn’t bring myself to spending the money on this one again!), Xen-Tan Dark Lotion Rich Self Tan (I’ve also wanted to try this brand before but just never got around to it. It was on my next list but I am currently using up some St. Tropez and Bare Essentials. But it was free, so why not?) and lastly 200 Cotton Squares (Because I had a few credits left… so why not!). So there you have it! I left the store super excited!

Weekly Recap!

February 24, 2012

What a week… actually two weeks. Things have been crazy at work so naturally that makes my life at home insane as well or rather my lack of life at home! In the last 14 days, I’ve had 2 days off. I’m looking forward to next week – a lot! Anyways, even with all of this craziness going on, this week has been pretty good.

If you follow my twitter then you have probably already seen these photos but I figured I’d do a little recap of my week! The week started with some mini purchases including amazing little binder clips (you can -never- have too many binder clips… big or small) and candles from Bath and Body works. I finally finished going through some old magazines and clipping some of my favorite things including this adorable idea of using cake stands as a catch all! I cleared out my ridiculous jewelry collection for our rummage sale in the spring… and I still need to clean out some more! I also started crocheting another blanket. I decided to just test out a few things but I’m loving it so far! Just another thing started for my 101 in 1001! Nixie and Esme decided to be lazy little bums ALL week! The only good part about half days at work? I finally found time to make the trip the courthouse and get my passport submitted (another things in my 101 in 1001 and some necessary prep for my Bahamas trip in April!). After stopping at the courthouse, we stopped at a little shop and I found this creepy, stuffed dog in one of the corners… Yea. Last but definitely not least, I received my Sephora and Ulta orders in the mail and I’m LOVING my new products! I can not wait to share them in the next few weeks with you! (I figured I’d hold out a little and try them out before blogging about them!)

If that’s not enough excitement for you then maybe my day yesterday will do? What started off as a typical day ended on a pretty awesome note! First off, I finally hired a new assistant at work and I could not be more excited! She actually reads my blog (such a creeper haha) so Congrats Shelby!!! :)

Then after work, I was stuck finishing up some paperwork and guess who walks into my store! My college professor I was talking about in my 6 Year Anniversary as a vegetarian post! I about died! If you recall in that post I spoke so highly of his class! After the class was over, I never saw him again and had no idea if the class was still available at the college. So, I noticed a man that looked like him shopping… I had to ask the guy if it was him. I use to be very weirded out by doing things like that but after working retail for 7 years it’s very rare for me to get shy when it comes to asking people/approaching people in the store. So, I asked if it was him and it was! His son was shopping so while he was busy running around grabbing jeans, we ended up talking for awhile! It was great. How often do you really get to catch up with someone that has influenced your life so much? I honestly figured I’d never see him again but it was awesome to be able to tell him how his class changed my life style – completely! He seemed super excited to hear about how I’ve changed my lifestyle and what I’ve been up to. We got talking about local vegetarian friendly restaurants (which are rare in this area) and it was just an overall awesome experience. He seemed so happy to hear all about everything. I also learned that he is still teaching the course at the college AND one of my associates is actually in his class right now! What a small world! I can’t wait to talk to her about it this week! The one thing I learned about the whole experience was, even if it may seem a little awkward, if someone has influenced your life big or small – tell them! Who wouldn’t want to know that! Just think, if something you did helped or influenced someone for the better… wouldn’t you love to know that?! I would! So, go out there and tell them!

Friday Favorite : Commercials?

Okay, this definitely isn’t my typical Friday favorite but I kept seeing these commercials and thought, “Really?”. It’s just not practical. So, after a few minutes of YouTube searching… and then a few more minutes of sitting in front of my computer in amazement… I present, my Friday favorite!

Red Polish {Part 2}

February 22, 2012

Three amazing, classic red polishes from my collection. From left to right: OPI – An Affair in Red Square, Goldie – Charlie & Goldie – Razzle. My favorite is OPI’s An Affair in Red Square. Not only is it a great red shape but it also has a tint of shimmer which is perfect for a special event or for the holiday season!

Pinterest Boards : Yarn

February 21, 2012

Oh, Pinterest! What did we do before it? Had messy scrapes of paper with notes? Notebooks of recipes all over the place? Ridiculous, unorganized folders on your internet browser!? And now… we have you!

Yes, I’m in love! And one of my favorite boards lately? My yarn board! I started crocheting when I was little with my Grama and since then have played around with crocheting every once in awhile. Well, Pinterest (and a few other blogs) reintroduced me to crocheting again recently and I couldn’t be more happy! So, I figured I’d share some of my favorite pins on my board today!

1 : Gorgeous baby blanket made out of little crocheted flowers. How amazing is this!
2 : This is knitted but I love the chunky feel of the blanket.
3 : Currently, on my To Do list. There’s not much better than this!
4 : Oh wait, yes there is – THIS blanket! I’m in love. I’m currently working on mine right now!

Yarn! Everywhere… it’s definitely not something you think of as inspiration but wow!
Some sweet treat inspiration for you!
Unique bouquets are always some of my favorite things! How many people can say they still have their exact bouquet (in the SAME condition) as it was on their wedding day… well, these ladies can!
I’m not sure if I love the boots or the color combination more in this wedding party!
Polka dots anyone?
 Crepe cakes?! Yes, please!
